The Episode

When Joan revisits one of Sherlock's cold cases, she discovers an unsolved murder is connected to a rare prehistoric fossil. Meanwhile, Sherlock finds himself in uncharted territory when his duties as a sobriety sponsor cross his personal boundaries.

The So-So

I don’t really have a lot to say about this episode and that should probably tell you everything. ‘Dead Clade Walking’ was pretty filler for my taste, nothing really stuck out nor did the storyline hint at further developments – basically, it was open and shut.

That’s not to say that the episode was terrible, because it wasn’t. One of the things I most liked about it was Joan’s ambition to reopen the case despite Sherlock not being interested. And in turn, I loved that at the end of the episode, Sherlock congratulated Joan and told her that the case would have remained unsolved if not for her. I would say that Joan is who Sherlock loves, as much as he is capable, and it’s moments like those that convince me of his feelings. It may not be a romantic love, but it is love all the same.

Speaking of Sherlock’s humanity, the idea of Sherlock being a sponsor was a beautiful addition to this show. You would think, just like Sherlock, that his temperament would make him an unlikely choice to sponsor someone, but I feel that it is the opposite. As displayed in the episode, Sherlock’s nature made him a better sponsor than even he though he was capable of. The final scene of the episode only showcases this – instead of getting angry or giving up on Randy, Sherlock simply suggests a meeting.

That’s all I have for you, folks! See you next week!

Speculation

No insight into the future after this episode, hopefully we’ll get some good stuff next week!

Highlight

I will have to say that it was Sherlock and Randy’s scenes, all of them. I really liked Sherlock being a sponsor and I really want to see more.
