April Fool's Day 2014 Round Up

1/4/2014

April Fool’s Day: a day where pranks are pulled, tears are shed, and it’s become the social norm to avoid Facebook for good ol’ April 1st. However, April 1st 2014 in particular has been a crazy and eventful one, for the music industry especially. So, here are a few noteworthy things that happened today (rest assured none of these are jokes)

Kanye West postponed his Australian tour

All Kanye fans begged it to be some sort of cruel, tasteless joke. Radio stations, newspapers and online publications were cross-checking and making sure it was the truth. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed by touring company Live Nation who have been forced to postpone West’s forthcoming Australian tour “due to unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album.” That’s the one good thing about this: A NEW KANYE ALBUM! Postponed dates are below:

Tuesday, May 6 – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Wednesday, May 7 – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

Violent Soho announce their biggest national tour yet

Brisbane rockers Violent Soho are embarking on their biggest tour yet with fellow punksters The Smith Street Band come this July. The band enjoyed wild success with their third LP Hungry Ghost (review of which you can read here) while managing to snag the #14 spot on the Hottest 100 with ‘Covered in Chrome.’ We’ll be seeing them at Groovin’ The Moo, but given their track record, this tour is simply one you cannot miss.

Tickets go on sale 9am Friday 4 April.

Thu 3 July – The Bakery, Perth (18+)
Fri 4 July – The Gov, Adelaide (all ages)
Sat 5 July – The Hi-Fi, Melbourne (18+)
